Choose cabinets that are timeless and can withstand the changing of style throughout time. Solid wood cabinets can always be sanded down and re-stained if needed later down the road. When choosing cabinets, be sure to choose cabinets that have a simple face on them without too much decoration on them. You should also splurge on your countertops, as they can also be long-lasting when you choose a good quality countertop. Choose granite or some other type of solid surface countertop. Laminate countertops can be beautiful, but they can also be easily damaged and you may need to replace them much sooner than you may have wanted.
